Earlier today, at Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia, an event was held to present the book “Mapei Stadium. Lo stadio si apre alla cultura”.
A project published by Marsilio Arte, edited by journalist Valentina Pigmei, which, through the images of Filippo Vinardi and the contributions of historians, sociologists, designers, and other experts, only in a few cases belonging to the world of football, celebrates the stadium as a community space before being a place for sports.
The Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore thus becomes the emblem of these large aggregation buildings, sometimes integrated with commercial or entertainment initiatives, which often come alive only during matches, proposing a new model of openness to the territory and people through cultural initiatives.
The poster for this new opening stands out on the cover: the artwork All together now, by Reggio Emilia-born and internationally renowned artist Olimpia Zagnoli, set in the center of the west facade. A stylistic illustration, almost a pattern, representing a curve of people singing and shouting their passion as if in a choir, conveying a sense of inclusion and joy of being together.
